Family Christmas Celebration Ideas

In this article read about some of the ways families across America celebrate Christmas.

Christmas tradition #1:

• Purchase music from the great English cathedrals. Gather stories about the Salisbury and Worchester Cathedral of England. As you play your music during the holidays tell your family the stories of how the great organs played in these Cathedrals and the choirs sang during the Christmas holiday celebrations

Christmas tradition #2:

• Set aside time to do some special holiday baking. Involve the entire family in the process. Package up your goodies to give to family, friends and neighbors as they visit and deliver their presents to you. Allow your children to give out the gifts of home baked goods.
• Fruitcakes, homemade chocolate chip cookies are staples of Christmas baking. Continue to create your own line of baked goods each year

Christmas tradition #3:

• As you start your baking traditions, gather your stories of the true meaning of Christmas and encourage your children to pass these stories to their children and on and on through each generation after you. All the while you are sifting; stirring, baking and preparing the gift packages tell the stories to your children and other family members.

Christmas tradition #4:

• As the season unfolds, read or purchase audio tapes of the Christmas story and the Dickens' A Christmas Carol, or any other favorite Christmas story. Decorate the house and put up the tree as your stories in the background play.
• Be an example by keeping a spirit of generosity, peacemaking and hospitality throughout the Christmas season
• Keep in mind and in your story telling the incarnation, the moment of when God became one of us to share our everyday experiences as we do, and that Christmas is the time we celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ.

Christmas tradition #5:

• Purchase a nativity scene and have this set up in a prominent place in your home
• Each time a child is born into your family, purchase another figurine to add to the scene and display these each year. Your figurines can be anything you desire to represent each new person born into your family. When in-laws are added, add a figurine to your nativity scene.

Christmas tradition #6:

• Celebrate Christmas Eve with your parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and so on.
• Have an open house on Christmas Day for anyone with nowhere else to go and present a gift or home made baked gift and dinner to those who may otherwise have no Christmas at all.
• You may want to organize a rotation with your neighborhood for the big open house Christmas party each year.

Christmas tradition #7:

• Dress up your kids in costumes like Mary and Joseph and go door to door, asking if they can come in to sing Christmas songs or deliver baked goods.

These are just some of the ways we can participate in the joy and hope of the Christmas season. Through our traditions we teach our children a small lesson in life of why Christ was born and how he would have us to treat one another - with love and kindness.

Christmas Gift Ideas For Kid

Christmas is a fun time of year, but Christmas give ideas for kids can be tough to come by if you aren't used to dealing with children. It isn't all that tough, though, if you know what you are doing. Going beyond the typical books and clothing that kids get every year; these ideas will help you get that perfect gift for the kid in your life.

The Movie Gift Basket

Get a basket or tub, pick up a liter of soda, some microwave popcorn and a gift card to a local video rental store and you have a movie gift basket! Any kid will love to get their very own movie card and all the "fixins" that are just for them. This is appropriate for a kid of any age.

Grab Bags

Get several small trinkets and one "main" gift. Put each one in its own decorated paper bag and put those bags into one large bag. Allow the child to choose one small bag at a time, discovering the treasures that are contained within each. This is a delightful surprise for the younger child, but older kids seem to like it too.

Gift Cards

Kids love to get gift cards. Depending on the age, you can get them a gift card to a toy store, the mall or get one of the major credit card gift cards so that they can spend it anywhere! They will feel just like a grown up when they go shopping and use their very own credit card to get the things that they want!

Art Sets

Purchase an art set of acrylic paints, brushes and paper, or try a different medium such as charcoal, pastels, water colors or oils. You can add in an instructional book and you have a gift that gives in so many ways. Children love to create and art allows them the gift of self expression.

Puzzles

Puzzles are a fun way for children to learn through doing. They learn logic without even realizing that it is a lesson because it is so much fun. Jigsaw puzzles are fun and you can get the mats that roll up so that the puzzle can be put away without being taken apart. Wood puzzles and brain teasers will keep kids entertained for hours as well.

Magazine Subscription

There are many great kids' magazines that are available; many are published by mainstream publications such as National Geographic and Sports Illustrated. Find out what interests the kid in your life has and get them the gift that gives all year long - a subscription to their favorite magazine.

Jewelry

Jewelry is always a hit with girls. Younger girls will love bracelets and necklaces with their names in block letters. Jewelry kits are also a big hit with girls. They can make their own jewelry and wear it.

When you are shopping for the kids in your life, don't be afraid to be creative. Have fun and steer away from the conventional. Think about the child's personality, likes and dislikes, then run with it! If all else fails, do a movie gift basket or a hot cocoa gift basket. You can't go wrong!

Customer Reviews
awesome straightener
Yeah...so i had the crappy $20 hair straightener from bed bath and beyond (long time ago decision) and it barely ever straightened any of my hair, leaving it curly just like it was before. It sucked! Compared to that, this is AMAZING! or compared to any straightener. it heats up in like 5 seconds, the gift box is definitely worth it, and it straightens sooo good! Makes your hair stay nice and pretty/shiny with the protecter and holds it with the styling spray (included). The case is also very handy when taking vacations and ur straightener wont break in it. BUY this if ur thinking about it! u'll love it...trust me. and it takes like 5 seconds to heat up. i try to do something else cuz i think it'll take long but it finishes heating up before i finish my stuff! its that fast!

The best straightner!
Received this item quickly and very happy with it. GHD is the best hair straightner/curler on the market and it is worth the price! I tested it in a humid climate (Singapore) and hair stays straight all day long, no frizz. It takes only couple of minutes to style your hair, works very fast and heats up very quickly too, about 3-4 seconds.

Excellent service.
The product arrived 1 week ahead of the stated time. It was packaged well and contained everything that I expected. I would definately buy from this company again.
